Artist's Comments

Shot at Mevagissey, her dad lent her his camera, no way was she giving it back.

Taken with my new Leica in 16:9 mode.

Nope... but I kinda think by the way she wasn't giving the camera back she was already hooked

For me, this has a 1940's feel about it ~ which I love..

I love the black and white; it gives it a sort of 'old postcard' feel!

I am going to critique this because it caught my eye before (I thought I had faved it but I hadn't for some reason D: )

Firstly, flawless use of black and white. Sometimes you get the impression that photographers convert to b+w to cover a multitude of sins but this looks fantastic.

It's a great capture, at first you think it might be a little vintage, with the girls quite odd 70s ensemble but you pan left and get combat shorts and pan right and get slinky contemporary specs. It's got a great symmetry to it and the wonky lines of the platform and railings don't bother me as they're echoed by the height difference of the parents.

The only thing that bothers me is a tiny niggle - the vertical framing irks me. I think if there was a bit less sky and more of dad's foot it would feel more balanced. The paler background helps define the figures but there's so much of it at the moment it feels a little oppressive. That may be my fear of the horizon talking :paranoid:

All in all Ilove this. I want moar candids.
